Iran anti-war film gets nom at US filmfest

Iran-Armenia film 'Yeva' has received three nominations at Arpa International Film Festival in the US.

Iran-Armenia anti-war film 'Yeva' by Anahid Abad has succeeded to receive three nominations at Arpa International Film Festival in the US.

Abad's debut movie 'Yeva' has got 2018 Arpa International Film Festival nominee for Best Screenplay, Best Director and Best Feature Film.

"The film tells the story of a young woman who escapes her influential in-laws with her daughter, Nareh, after her husband’s tragic death and takes refuge in a village in the Karabakh region," the synopsis reads by the festival's website.

'Yeva' is a joint production between the National Cinema Center of Armenia and the Iranian Farabi Cinema Foundation in Tehran, where the Iranian premiere of 'Yeva' was held.

The cast team includes Narine Grigoryan, Shant Hovhannisyan, Marjan Avetisyan.

The war-themed flick represented Armenia at the 90th edition of Academy Awards.
